Whenever I’m in Berlin, I don’t feel like a tourist. Maybe that’s why I don’t have many pictures of the city.
I used to live there when I was little and I still have friends and relatives there, so naturally I don’t feel the urge to walk around with the camera when I’m in Berlin.
But if I didn’t have friends and relatives there, I’d go to Berlin because of the food. There is such a variety of restaurants and cafés, you can fill your days with food and drinks.
During my last stay in Berlin I went to my until-now-favorite Thai bistro “Papaya” (Winterfeldtstraße 42, 10781 Berlin). I had “Pad Thai” as usually and ice-tea (which somehow tastes very special there):
I spent quite some time at the “Hackescher Markt”, I just really like this place because it has both a beautiful scenery (you can walk to the “Spree” river) and lots of cafés and restaurants.
I also had dinner with one of my best friends at a place called “Allegretto a Travola” (Anna-Louisa-Karsch-Straße 2, 10178 Berlin), which is located right next to the river. You can ask for a table outside and get a really nice view while enjoying some Italian food. (The food is maybe not too special, but it’s the view that makes it totally worth it). I forgot to bring my camera that day, so here is a cellphone picture I took at Travola:
I had a few bubble teas (of course!), this time at “ComeBuy” (Rosenthaler Str. 31, 10178 Berlin):
And if you are in Berlin, you have to have a Döner! It seems like there are many good Döner places, you might want to check this website to get an overview of the best Döner places in Berlin. I once went to “Mustafa’s Gemüsekebap” (Meringdamm 32, 10961 Berlin, 2nd on the list) and I had to wait 1,5 hour in the rain. BUT it was heavenly delicious! This time I went to “Rosenthaler Grill & Schlemmerbuffet” (Torstraße 125, 10119 Berlin) and the Döner was also very good, and we didn’t have to wait long.
Yeah that’s about it! I was too lazy to take the usual sight seeing tour, so I don’t have pictures of the Brandenburger Tor or the other things you’d expect to see in Berlin 🙂
